"App"solutely

I have no idea how I ever survived without my smart phone.

There are lots of great smart phones out there, but I happen to have an iPhone (iPhone 3.  It's an oldy but a goody).  I'm sure some of these apps can be found for other smart phones, but they can all definitely be found for the iPhone.

The following are apps that I use daily and that help keep me organized and healthy.  No one has asked to review anything. I'm just sharing my favorite apps because I love them and want you to know about them too.  Please feel free to share your favorite apps too!  I'm always looking for new ones.

Baby:

Baby Connect - Baby Connect can be used from a computer or a smart phone.  I seriously can't remember when and how much I feed this child.  Today he was crying at 10:30 am and I thought "Well, he ate at 7:30 am so he shouldn't be ready yet".  Checked the app and I was wrong.  He ate at 6:30 am and that's why he was hungry.  He was right on time.  I was not.  This app lets you keep track of medicine, diapers, nap time, feedings (breast and bottle), moods, solids and more.  I mostly use it for bottle feedings and diaper changes (especially when new born) but I have used a few other things too.

Weight loss and keeping healthy:

Yea, that's right.  I'm still trying to lose the "baby weight".  And some weight that I needed to lose BEFORE the baby.  It's a slow go.  At 43 years old, the weight just doesn't want to come off.  But these apps help keep me honest and active.

My Fitness Pal - Again, My Fitness Pal can be used from the computer or a smart phone.  I love this because 1.  It calculates everything for me.  I don't even need to think.  It keeps track of my food and exercise and automatically increases my calorie intake for the exercise I've done.  2. The app has a great feature where you can scan the bar code of an item of food not in their data base and it automatically adds the foods information for you.  No keying everything in.  It also lets you connect to a community or link up with a bunch of friends to give you support.  And the best part, IT'S FREE!

Couch to 5K - Another one that's a website but also has an app.  I love the app because it talks to me while I'm on the treadmill.  It tells me when to run and when to walk.  It also keeps track of what week and day I'm on.  You can do this without the app.  But for a few dollars, I feel like I have my own trainer. And just for the record:  I have no interest in running a 5K or any K.  I'm just trying to get into shape.

Weight Watchers Mobile - The app itself is free, but you need to be a member of Weight Watchers Online to use it.  I lost the baby weight with Older Boy and the Little Man with Weight Watchers.  It's a crutch for me.  I think I could do this with the My Fitness Pal app, but I'm scared to NOT use Weight Watchers.  I'm using it to double check myself.  I love WW and wish I could attend meetings but I can't so this is the next best thing.

0-200 sit ups - Made by the My Fitness Pal people, this app is $0.99 and I like it because it's making me do sit ups.  It also has 2 five minutes stretching sessions and I NEVER stretch (which is bad) unless I'm using this app.  It's worth the $0.99 for that alone.

Organization:

Pinterest App - Pinterest is a website that is like a virtual bulletin board.  I love Pinterest.  And I love this app because I can access my boards through the phone.  If I've pinned a recipe, and I can't remember the ingredients or instructions I can access it anywhere, including the grocery store where I sometimes can't remember exactly what ingredients I need.

Orgjunkie App - Yes, Laura has a website, and I follow her there.  But the app lets me set tasks and chores for myself and check them off as I do them.  It's hard to remember what you need to do, or your cleaning schedule when you have a baby screaming at you (yes, he does cry... a lot) so this helps to keep me on task.

Miscellaneous:

BabyCenter Mobile - Yes, BabyCenter is another website.  And I've been a member there since I was pregnant with Older Boy.  But the mobile app helps keep me connected.  It's great to use while feeding the baby.

iMissal - This great app allows me to read the daily readings, watch mass, or find prayers quickly and easily.  Love it!

What are your favorite apps??

If I had a baby at this stage, I think I'd need an app to keep up with feedings, too.

I have My Fitness Pal but haven't really begun using it. Need to.

I love the Pinterest app, too. I like looking through it during commercials while we're watching TV or sitting in the living room doing other things -- that way I can look through there without being away at the computer. I think I see more of it, too, with just seeing a few pins on the screen at a time -- when I look on the computer and there are several, I think I overlook some.

I like apps for Pandora, a couple of radio stations I listen to, the newspaper, Olive Tree Bible software, and several games.

I ♥ BabyConnect! It would be spectacularly MORE awesome if I could get the hubs to use it. I wouldn't have to call home from work (I mean, I would have to call him 20x in a row before he answered resulting in a not so pleasant conversation) if he'd just update it. Men!

Going to check out OrgJunkie! I am a firmer "taskaholic" but since kids, I'm a schizophrenic mess. I just recently tried EgoTimer, but it is ENTIRELY too complicated for me to figure out.

CoziCalendar is kinda a life saver.

And I BabyCenter via the mobile website. I've discovered the bestest friends on there! ;-)
