Thursday Thirteen # 20

Thirteen Allergy Friendly Alternatives To Dyeing Easter Eggs With An Egg Allergic Child

1. Vintage Easter Chick
2. Seed Bead Eggs (or Glitter if you choose)
3. Mr. and Mrs. Bunny
4. Decoupage Eggs
5. Egg Faces
6. Celluclay Eggs
7. Happy Easter Cross
8. Little Bunny Hat
9. Styrofoam Eggs decorated with Easter stickers
10. Wooden Eggs and washable paints
11. Bunny Ear Visor
12. Model Magic Eggs
13. Chenille Egg

Of course you need to take the age of the child and gender into account, but most of these can be done by kids of any age(it just may not turn out like the works of art they show on the website). Thanks to Michael's for all the wonderful Easter craft ideas.

I remember making papier mache eggs at an easter play scheme and painting them when I was a kid. It was quite fiddly as you had to make the whole egg on a mould, let it dry, an adult had to cut it with a knife, then you had to papier mache the two parts together, then cover the newspaper egg with thin white paper and then you could paint it. Probably a good way of keeping a few dozen kids occupied for a few hours...

Great TT! Those alteratives sound fun, even for those of us who aren't allergic :)

Aww, man. You don't think about food allergies affecting so much of life until you're faced with it, huh?

The alternatives sound really awesome, though. Maybe even better than the mess of dyeing eggs? (I've never done it, so I don't know)

Great ideas. We haven't dyed eggs in years, but these ideas sound like fun.

Great list! I had to put my son on an extremely strict diet (gluten and casein free) for a year to help him heal a gut problem. I had no idea how hard food allergies were until then! Thankfully, my boy was able to go off the diet and is doing well... this is a great list of Easter ideas!

Wow! I never would have thought of so many options. What did we do b4 Michael's? :) That's great that you have so many fun ways for them to enjoy their Easter eggs. It makes me smile knowing that they won't miss out on that tradition.

Have fun with them!

You know, I never thought of that, with your little one so allergic to eggs, he wouldn't be able to colour easter eggs!! Such other great crafts he can do, though, to be part of the Easter fun:-) xox

I don't have kids, but the ideas are nice enough to try for myself! :-) I'll send the link to your post to a friend too.
Thanks for visiting my TT!
